Introducing Favors

Favors

Finally there’s a way to use Apple’s Passbook without getting involved with some faceless corporation. All you need is Favors, our new iOS app coming January 17th.

If you owe somebody some money or a favor you can use Favors to give them a coupon they can put in their Passbook. If you want to give someone a gift that involves doing something for them instead of giving them something then you can create a gift coupon they can put in their Passbook.

Here’s how it works.

  • Simply launch the app and create a new coupon.
  • Fill in the sender’s name (only the very first time), what the coupon is good for, and the recipient’s name.
  • If you want, you can even change the background color of the coupon.
  • When you’re done, you tap Save and then you are prompted to email the coupon to the recipient.
  • Once emailed, the coupon is saved so Favors can track all the coupons you’ve issued.
  • The recipient receives the email, taps the attached coupon, and adds it to their Passbook.
  • When they’re ready to redeem the coupon, they simply show you the coupon, and you perform whatever the coupon says.
  • They delete the coupon from their Passbook, and you delete the coupon from Favors.

Nice and simple. Favors runs on the iPhone and iPod Touch. It will be available on Apple’s app store on January 17th, 2013 and cost $1.99.
