Since 2008, Numerology has been in the App Store — one of the earliest apps of its kind, and one that has always been focused on delivering a thoughtful, meaningful experience for users curious about the patterns behind their lives.
For more than 15 years, I kept the app simple: one-time purchase, no subscriptions, no gimmicks. If you bought it, it was yours — and that’s still true today. If you purchased Numerology when it was a paid-up-front app, you still have access to everything you paid for, forever.
But starting with Numerology 2, Numerology is switching to a free download with a subscription.
Why the Change?
If you search the App Store for “Numerology,” my app — which is literally named Numerology — shows up 17th in the results. That’s despite being well-established, well-reviewed, and older than most of the competition. Why? Apple’s App Store search heavily favors free downloads. Every one of my competitors is free to download, and most of them monetize with subscriptions or ads.
Staying paid-up-front was holding the app back — both in visibility and in income.
This change is about more than making Numerology competitive. It’s about creating a more sustainable foundation for me to continue improving the app.
What’s New with Subscriptions?
New users will be able to download Numerology for free and try out the core features. Subscriptions — monthly, annual, or lifetime — unlock powerful additions:
• iCloud Syncing: Keep your profiles in sync across all your devices.
• App Intents: Integrate with Shortcuts and automate your numerology workflows.
• Contacts Importing: Quickly create profiles from your Contacts app.
These are premium features that help me cover ongoing development costs and give me room to grow the app in exciting ways.
Why Now?
Simply put, I need to make Numerology a source of income again. I’ve resisted monetization trends for years — this app has never had ads, never sold data, and never nagged users with popups. But maintaining a quality app takes real time, effort, and cost.
This isn’t about cashing in — it’s about making Numerology better, and ensuring it can continue to serve users for years to come.
If you’ve supported the app in the past: Thank you!. If you’re discovering it now for the first time: welcome. I hope this new model gives more people the chance to explore the rich world of numerology while helping support the app’s future.
